St Kilda Beach Hotel
St Kilda is an outlying beach suburb on the North approach into Adelaide.
The Hotel is about 3.2km from the highway
(A1, Port Wakefield Rd)
and 30km from the Adelaide CBD.
'Its a bit industrial around there, but that means that there is easy access and egress to either side of the highway - ie a merge lane for right-hand turns that would take B-doubles.
Known locally for the adventure playground and the mangrove walk.
Both seem to have had a bit of a makeover.
The RV parking area is in Cockel Street;
between the mangrove walk and the adventure playground,
(follow clear signs to KIOSK/BOAT RAMP not HOTEL)
The hotel is on the other side of the playground/picnic area.
Low cost camping for self-contained vehicles only
Dump Point
The kiosk is open 05: 00
Excellent coffee and has most of the things one might hope to find in a CP office - bait, plenty of local information, a used bookshelf - oh, and the tokens to enter the mangrove walk & interpretative display.
The mangrove experience is free but you need to collect a token from the kiosk in exchange for a deposit of $20 or your ID.
Plentiful parking. There is no shade for campers and it's going to be hot in summer. I have heard that sandflies and mozzies are a problem at night;
The pub was great. "Hot, isn't it" said the waitress and my requested glass of water came in a pint glass with ice.
Beautifully presented meals; good lunch specials during the week starting at $10 and I noticed that a lot of the mains were available as entree or main for those who don't need the trucker sized portions often plated.'
