The historic Kentish Hotel (circa 1830) is like so many pubs in beautiful Tasmania, history leaches from it thick sandstone walls.
The current owners took over the pub in March 2020, just days before Covid-19 put the brakes on the world.
Did they stop, no, the family spent the time renovating the hotel, to faithfully reveal its former glories........ if only the walls could talk!

The hotel has accommodation, a bar, bistro and a renowned café - bakery.
It is open 7 days from 8.00am offering breakfast and lunch, with dinner on Friday and Saturdays.

The hotel is a 550 metre walk from the no-cost 72 hr short stay RV/Van Park.

Follow the restoration stages and keep track of  this must visit country pub on its' website and Facebook page.

Oatlands

Just shy of being centre way between Hobart and Launceston, Oatlands lays claim to having the largest collection of Georgian architecture in Australia, with 87 notable building in the man street alone, and close to 150 overall. Oatlands is also home to the only working Lincolnshire Tower Mill in the Southern Hemisphere, the Callington Mill (circa 1837).

Being 84 kms north of Hobart and 116 kms south of Launceston, it is an ideal location to stop over and recharge your personal batteries (and hopefully the sun will shine to keep up your 'house' batteries).

Next 'happy hour' indulge yourself in some reading and learn about the wonders of yet another historic Tassie town by going to the

Oatlands page on the Aussie Towns website.

The Council operated no-cost short stay 72 hour stop-over for self-contained RVs and Vans is situated on the foreshore of Lake Dulverton, with an overflow area directly across the road in Callington Park.
Some people report the large flat overflow area, is the pick of the two areas - and is the area best suited for Big Rigs.

The campsite has shade, a picnic table and fire pot with potable water available, and has phone reception.

Callington Park has a large children's playground next to the RV/Van Overflow parking area.
There is a 24/7 public toilet nearby, further along the Foreshore Reserve, opposite Mill Lane - a short walk from the parking area.

According to locals the RV/Van parking area does get quite busy.
A 24/7  free public Dump Point is situated 1.2 kms from the park at 10 William Street [at the junction of Wellington St].
It is accessible to Big Rigs and has water available.
