Named after Dan O’Mara, a man lost in the area, the Aboriginal trackers assisting in the search had difficulty pronouncing his name, and it was loosely translated to Dunmarra.
Dan was never found, but be sure to see the township named for him.
Located 320km’s south of Katherine on the Stuart Hwy, Dunmarra services travellers and the local cattle stations providing fuel, food and accommodation.
Very reasonably priced too.
Some travellers found this to be the cheapest place for fuel along the Stuart Hwy..
Good food.....breakfast will keep you going through to the next camp.
Their licensed restaurant also provides take-away meals.
Internet service, and there are budget air conditioned ensuite motel rooms and a reptile display - hopefully not in the motel rooms!
It's a nice, quiet caravan park with grassed sites and shady trees
A large swimming pool and new amenities provide the creature comforts.
This is a great place to stop for a break, a meal and a chilled beverage.
