Walkabout Creek Hotel:
The hotel of Crocodile Dundee fame, situated between Winton & Cloncurry.
An excellent.
There are 10 powered sites
Enjoy a beer or two sitting on the verandah and watching the passing parade of unique characters and tourists passing by.
They serve very good meals from 6.30pm to 8pm daily
You are now in the midst of one of the famous scenes from the movie movie Crocodile Dundee.
McKinlay has little more than a roadhouse, a few houses and a pub. But ... Oh! What a pub!
The McKinlay pub is the major tourism draw-card for the town, bringing in tourists keen to see this famous landmark, and have their photo taken with a replica of the knife that Dundee carried.
McKinlay also has Australia'a smallest public library, a park and a small museum.
It's about 100 km to your next stop, Julia Creek, the Blue Heeler at Kynuna in the opposite direction, and not too far from Cloncurry.
This is true outback travel. Get yourself out there!

What a great place to stay!
The food is great, and we enjoyed a few drinks with fellow travelers and the publican too. It was a very welcoming pub.
The powered sites are very well laid out.
Plenty of showers and toilets, a free washing machine.
Do yourself a favour and have a walk around town. It won’t take long and there is quite a bit to see.
There is a coffee van about 100m away, open from 6am to midday, serving excellent coffee and other delights.
No bookings taken. Arrived at 2pm and got the last powered site. Level sites. Quiet. No meals at pub (Saturday night) when we were there.
