Milparinka. The Albert Hotel

A little heritage town, just 1500 metres off the Silver City highway.

 332 km north of Broken Hill

Great little place to check out the history and old buildings. Tourism & Heritage Dept have restored some of the historic buildings, and there are excellent museums located within them. More work is ongoing with other buildings too, with plans for more displays A very interesting mineral and rock display is housed in one of the buildings

Thus is a nice old pub with a great bar and atmosphere. Rebecca has been the publican here for over 2 decades and is enthusiastic about her town and hotel It is a great place to stay on the way to or from Cameron's Corner.

They know how to have fun out here. Understanding the value of the local pub for socialising and unwinding after a long day in the outback is the  key to community rapport.

The caravan park / campground is nearby and they have 8 powered and plenty of unpowered sites with modern amenities blocks A newly installed dump point is available Tent-based camping permitted

It is best to visit the town during the winter months when there are people at the Visitor Centre.

In the summer months when temperatures can reach 50°C and with little reliable water it is an oasis on the road between Broken Hill and Tibooburra.

It is worth stopping and exploring because it is a salutary reminder of the sheer hardship of trying to survive in an unforgiving desert.
