Introducing the thriving village of Maidenwell, and the Maidenwell Hotel
Established on December 3, 1913, the King’s Hotel was originally built by John King who established Maidenwell township.
The hotel was named for the first well he dug in the area.
While not serviced by well water today, the hotel functions entirely on tank water.
It is much more commonly known as The Maidenwell Hotel
The hotel has retained many of its 100+ year old features – tongue and groove timber walls, picture rails, verandas and also the original fireplace, which provides a comfortable ambience in winter
Maidenwell has a community hall, cafe, a few ponies and of course the famous Maidenwell pub!
Drop in and say g'day to the hard- working team - and just in case you need an excuse to travel to town, there's a pig (and other roasts) on a spit once a month on the last Saturday
If you miss out on that, there are pub meals on offer every other day
The hotel offers frequent entertainment, keep an eye on their website for the next offering.
Camping is right next door, on pub land, and it is free to hotel patrons.
Tank water only services the pub, so please take your own supply.
Unpowered sites only but plenty of space.
There are coin operated showers in the park next door (50m from pub) for those not self contained.
24hr toilets next door and in park (take a torch
NEARBY CAMPING
A second camp area is at JA Gordon Oval on Kingaroy-Cooyar Road.
It has 24hr toilets and showers,
Dump Point,
Tent-based camping is permitted
Pet Friendly
If you want to see everything, leave your van in the backyard of the Maidenwell Hotel and drive to the Coomba Falls (2minutes drive, 15minutes walk),
and the Bunyas - about half hour up the hill.
Council advises not to tow up the hill, but this is more because there is no turn around on the way up if you change your mind or if the incline is too steep.
I guarantee you will make new friends
