Tarana Hotel
The Tarana Hotel is located within the picturesque Tarana Valley, just over the Blue Mountains.
Turn off Great Western Hwy between Bathurst and Lithgow.
There's a camp spot nearby near the Bush Fire Brigade building suitable for an overnight stay. Must be self-contained as no facilities here. Please don't park too close or obstruct access
The historic hotel still features the original pressed metal ceilings, and an open fireplace made from local granite.
Sheltered by magnificent ancient wisterias, the beer garden is a beautiful place to settle and enjoy the landscape and friendly atmosphere.
Ensure you stop into the Tarana for Lunch or Dinner, 7 days. The chefs have designed the menu to reflect delicious, home cooked, hearty country food.
There's a great wine selection as well, including some of the very special cold-climate reds.
Within hiking distance of the hotel there is trout fishing, bushwalking and rock climbing at nearby Evans Crown, which was discovered by explorer George Evans in 1813 and is widely used by rock climbers.
The Tarana Hotel has cabins to rent, and is the perfect base to visit several attractions in the region, all within an hour by car.
Nearby you will find Jenolan Caves, goldfields for fossicking, gem fields at Black Springs, trout farms and National Parks.
The stunning landscaped acres of the Mayfield Gardens are a must-see for the gardeners.
This information from a visitor November 2022:
It’s one big open space so it’s hard to describe how far away from the sheds you should park"

Stayed at Tarana Pub on 19 June 2025, with one other van.
Shelly the Publican was very welcoming and accommodated our vans out the back of the pub.
This pub has outstanding food.
The two chefs were fabulous with four specialist gourmet dishes and usual pub grub. It is well worth ordering the gourmet dishes.
Minus 7 degrees in the morning led to interesting times with frozen water in van and pub.
However, this location is well worth the drive off roads not normally travelled!
