Benambra Hotel

I have just had a lovely conversation with the publican Erin, who is filled with enthusiasm and excitement that her little pub has suddenly become very well known!

Benambra Hotel is in the highlands of Victoria - it is a tiny town with a big heart and would be a fabulous base from which to explore the local area.

It is open 6 days from 2pm, closed Mondays.
However if there is a group who wants to stay over on Mondays, or have lunch, Just ask Erin and she may be able to accommodate you.

Accommodate, you say?
Yes- 7 backpacker style rooms which can sleep up to 26. there's one room with a double bed only and also family rooms.

Camping is available on pub grounds for tents and swags- Toilets and showers are available 24hrs for a small cost.

If you have a larger vehicle there are places for you to park up too, and you can have access to the bathrooms if you need them.

Leashed pets are permitted in the grounds but not inside the hotel.

A general store / PO / fuel is the only other business in town.

LOCAL ATTRACTIONS:
Benambra is the first town to be settled in East Gippsland and as such has a lot of history to explore.

Taylors Crossing is nearby with it's historic swinging bridge and is close to the Australian Alpine Walking Trail

There are areas for mountain bikes, motorbikes and more.

Lake Omeo is just a few minutes away from the pub, and although currently dry, Land Yachting is a popular pastime here.

You can hire a yacht to give it a try!

In Erins own words:
"The Benambra Pub isn’t just a building to me—it’s part of who I am. My family has a deep connection to this pub. From 1994 to 2007, my parents poured their hearts into making it a welcoming place for everyone who walked through the door.
Those years shaped my childhood and gave me a profound appreciation for what this pub represents—not just a venue, but a gathering place that brings people together.

When Dad and I took over in 2022, we knew the pub had been through tough times—fires, floods, and COVID, had taken their toll on the community and this historic little town. But we also knew how vital it was to continue to open the doors and preserve the pub as a lifeline for Benambra".

Do you need any more reasons to visit Benambra?

- No, I didn't think so!
