Just off the Matilda Hwy, this is a great place to stop and enjoy the town’s colourful history.

The Ellangowan Pub is south of Tambo, enroute to/from Charleville or Morven.

There's some  connection to meat ants, (the insect) but you will have to find that out for yourself. It's even the name of the local football team

The hotel offers comfortable accommodation as well as camping.

ONSITE CAMPING
Expanded camping on the pub grounds to be nearer.
Power and water available at a moderate cost and the camper is given a voucher to be redeemed at the pub.
Ask about the laundry too.

There is a dump point in town in Brassington Park.

Warrego River Picnic Grounds is across the road from the Ellangowen Hotel.

This campground is by donation and there is room for all sized rigs.
Campfires are permissible which makes for a happy camper on a chilly night.

The Warrego River (Aboriginal word meaning river of sand), runs north from its source in the Carnarvon Ranges to it's junction with the Darling River, in the south.

Have a great meal here and meet some interesting locals and fellow travellers. Pay a visit to the butcher - they have a great reputation for the quality of their meat

Another great stopover in Augathella. $25 for power water and sullage with a $10 voucher to use in the pub. Great meals, lovely publican and his wife too. Meals are huge. This is our second stay whilst heading Nth and will become a regular I’m sure.
