Mitchell Hwy,  NSW .
It's only a kilometre and a half.

Look up 'Barringun' and it is most likely to say QLD- use that same Google map for 'Barringun Roadhouse & Caravan Park - Bush Tucker Inn" - and it states 'Enngonia'

Don't get lost or you will miss out on a good experience

The roadhouse is open from 8am to 9pm daily, and you can purchase hearty meals at all hours

Farm animals are about and well used to visitors

There is fuel available 24hours - but a good idea to phone ahead during business hours to be sure

Barringun is a tiny historic town on the border between New South Wales and Queensland.

Before Federation, when the borders between states were controlled by customs officers, places like Barringun, 111 km north of Bourke and 146 km south of Cunnamulla, were important stopping points with bonded warehouses, hotels and shops servicing travellers crossing from one state to the other.

Once Federation occurred and the state borders were removed the towns started to dwindle.

The town that was once a stopover point for shearers, drovers, mailmen, swaggies, labourers, adventurers and Cobb & Co coaches became a sleepy village as cars roared through.

Today the charm of Barringun is reduced to the Barringun Roadhouse and Caravan Park.

The last remnant from that bygone era was the Tattersall Hotel.

Mary Crowley had lived there for 43 years and sold it on 9 December 2017.

She was the oldest publican in Australia.

Unfortunately the hotel burnt down on Christmas Eve in 2017.
The atmosphere of the surviving roadhouse is relaxing and friendly

The showers and toilets, although rustic -  are very clean and tidy

Accommodation rooms have comfortable beds and air conditioning.

There are family rooms with 4 beds, or doubles
