Pimba: Spuds Roadhouse
This roadhouse, 480k Nth of Adelaide, is named after the well-known character, Spud Murphy, who passed away late 2007, but his story and life lives on
through the roadhouse and the many travellers and locals who remember him. Spud was the original roadhouse owner.
Pimba is a small settlement with a permanent population of around 50 people.
It lies at the junction of the Stuart Highway and Pimba Road, which leads onto Woomera, Roxby Downs and Andamooka.
A good base for sightseeing.
No bookings accepted.
Hot showers are by donation at bar for overnight camping.
The funds go to the progress association so please be generous.
There's not much grass here, it is a truck stop and the trains go past, including the Ghan - but the experience is second to none.
The roadhouse also has fuel, a restaurant, accommodation and a supermarket.
There is an EV charger here
